Prompt 6: Share Fannish Collections

As the

sunshine_challenge continues, we invite everyone to share fun fannish things they have collected over the years, be they physical items, stories, photos, or links. More details below the cut. Remember that there is no official deadline, so feel free to join in at any time or go back and do any prompts you've missed!

Our love of fandom knows no bounds, and it is not limited to fanworks.

This is the time to share all of the things we have collected over the years showing our love for our favorite fandoms. This can include both things we personally own and things we wish we could add if money/space were no object. It also includes stories and memories that brighten our days.

Have a fandom tattoo? That custom keychain your friend made you 10 years ago? That life size statue of Iron Man someone made that lights up and you absolutely would center your living room around if you could get your hands on it? Convention stories, internet friendships and the ensuing shenanigans … anything that makes you smile when you reflect on it, we’d like to learn more about it!

There is enough negative energy in the world, so let’s take some time to focus on the happy things and enjoy the joy these collector items bring others.

Once you’ve finished sharing all the things, leave a comment to this post saying you’ve done it! Include a link to your pages if you feel comfortable doing so. Let everyone know whether you are "Ready for visitors!" or "Lurking for fandom fun".

I'm going to add to my post as time permits, but I've already uploaded a picture of my my refrigerator to show off just a few of my magnets. (The Jaime/Brienne magnet was a gift from a friend. I have no idea where she got it.)

I wish I knew how to add photos to DW posts. It seems so complicated or just plain not possible. I hear the only way is to link to a Flicker account, (which the last thing I need is more accounts!) Thru work I am "forced" to collect educational website accounts. That's enough for me. LOL

Technically there's a way to upload to DW and embed it from there rather than using Flickr (the image limit isn't very high, so small pictures are best). Unfortunately, I'm not entirely sure how to do it--I just made an attempt to upload two pictures last night and they keep disappearing from the post EVERY TIME I refresh my reading page.

(They're still there as of now, and I don't know if they're showing up and disappearing for other people or if it's my brick of a laptop, but...still.)

Check your security level on the photos under manage images and make sure they are set to "Everyone" if you want the images to be public. If your journal defaults to "Access" or "Private" your photos will default to that as well. (You should still be able to see them even if others can't so I don't have an explanation for things vanishing from a reading page.)

Thanks very much, that's good to know! I didn't even think about checking the security level there.

The problem seems to have been solved--I suspect I just botched the HTML in a way that made it look right in the edit screen but wrong once posted--but we'll see.

There's a way! It's not at all obvious, but it works. I post art all the time.

It is ridiculously complicated, but when you upload images a lot like I do, you just do it on autopilot without thinking too much about it, though I still curse the "view images" and "manage images" options not being on a single screen.

OMG, I have that banana magnet too!!!

I must be hungry, because my brain just did a free-association jump from "banana" to "banana bread" and then reassembled your username from "run punk run" into "rum pumpkin" and so now I'm sitting here going, "Rum-infused pumpkin bread sounds awesome" even though I know that's not what we're talking about at all. But it still sounds good.

This comment made me want pumpkin bread, so you started something,

That sounds amazing. Or even rum-infused banana bread with a toffee sauce drizzled over the top, like bananas foster in bread form.
