Prompt 5: Fulfill A Wishlist Item for Someone Else

As the sunshine_challenge continues, we invite everyone to embark on something of a fannish scavenger hunt! More details below the cut. Remember that there is no official deadline, so feel free to join in at any time or go back and do any prompts you've missed!



Now that we’re well into this challenge, we hope that most of you have been able to reach out to new folks and begin to cultivate new fandom relationships. We’d like to see this go a even a step further!

This challenge is to explore other journals to find wish list items that you can fulfill for someone else. Lots of people have Dear Creator Letters, Fandom Wish List posts from other challenges, and other such posts that readily list their fandom wishes (and if you’d like take this opportunity to create one for yourself now, please do!).

Maybe your new friend has a New Year’s goal post with some fannish wishes tucked therein. Maybe someone would love to find new readers for their fic, some fanart to accompany that WIP they’ve been working on, new icons, paid time for their journal or community page … the ideas are endless. You can choose to sign your name to the granted wish or you can gift someone their wish list item anonymously. What’s important is knowing that you yourself did something to make someone’s day a little bit brighter.

I like to think of it as a bit of a fannish scavenger hunt. Look at other people's profiles and find interests that you share. Check back to this post later and see if any interesting wishes were granted!



If you create any fanworks, feel free to add them to our AO3 Collection.

Once you’ve finished fulfilling someone’s wish, leave a comment to this post saying you’ve done it! Include a link to your pages if you feel comfortable doing so. Let everyone know whether you are "Ready for visitors!" or "Lurking for fandom fun".

Most importantly, please check through the comments and go visit new journals, comment on their shiny posts, and maybe make a new friend or two. We encourage everyone to aim to comment on two new journals if they are able (of course, you are welcome to do more!). ♥

I am ready for visitors, and as it happens my fandomgiftbox is right over here. Miraculous Ladybug, Emelan, and Original Work. That won't reveal for months, though, so here is also my snowflake_challenge 2018 wish list—which dates from at least a month before I ever watched an episode of Miraculous Ladybug, and, uh, my current fannish obsession is probably Obvious? Also you will notice in my AO3 bio over EllieMurasaki way that I have a blanket permission statement re transformative works of my transformative works. I love such things.

Update: I have filled two wishes! Only commented on one new journal, but that's only because the other wish I filled was a comment on a different new person's AO3. That counts, right? (Also it would be nice if my brain would cooperate, because "this is New and therefore Stress and therefore Avoid" is a thing my brain does and is not at all that author's fault, and I really would like to read the other 24 chapters of this!)

I make no promises on how long it will take me to reply to you, but the first few could be done tomorrow and then it just depends on how long the list gets. I also might need to declare a cut-off if more people than I think actually want a weird doodle.

I’m ready for visitors, I’ve not filled a wish yet, but I did a post with some things I’d like here including recs for The Flash or Lucifer, music recs and the kinda fic I’d love to see (mostly band related), and a general call for Doctor Who/Star Wars people cause Ill be rambling about both in the coming months

Hi, I am willing to make an icon for anyone who would like one, the fandoms I am in and am familiar with are listed in my About Me sticky post, although I may be willing to try other fandoms if I can find good photo sources.

My fandom giftbox is here, but, like others have mentioned, I won't be able to see and respond to any lovely gifts until September.

As my brain isn't consuming much fannish stuff atm - though if you're into ttrpg, I did ask about favorite source books and stand alones in a recent post, and if any of the vids in my recent vid rec post were to mysteriously get some more views/comments, that'd make me very happy indeed as they're all from VidUKon ♥ - not sure if requesting anything wouldn't just be moot.

But hey, I make icons? So I'm gonna open up for requests, and then collect them in a mini-post at spankulert. So ask away if you're pining for your faves in icon format (I do comics too). Though if you don't have any screengrabs, all I can do is google.
