Hello all!

After speaking with the wonderful hosts of the

snowflake_challenge, this offshoot community was created. More details to come later, but for now please feel free to join and subscribe so that you will be in the loop when the challenge starts.

We are looking to host a 7 prompt challenge this July as a counterpoint to the winter challenge that kickstarts each year. If there are any ideas or suggestions you have, please feel free to share them here (DM is also fine if you don't want the rough idea on a public post). I will also need some help to run the event, so any volunteers can also chime in here or send me a DM.

The idea is low-pressure, so whatever you're comfortable with, ya know? I hope people continue the reaching out and improving fandom thing!

Oh, indeed. I like being around fannish people but I don't really consider myself in fandom particularly any more, but I do think that's just a phase (however long it lasts for) and in the meanwhile I'll join in with squee and cheering people on and posting fluffy things and making random icons when I spot wishes for them and what-have-you. Because I love fandom and the people in it!

I don't mind helping you with running this, if you want the help; I can turn my hand to basic icons and graphics, and just do general cheering or whatever else you want/need.

I totally feel you there. I often found myself organizing events as opposed to creating fannish content, it definitely happens in phases for me. I will keep your name in my notes. I'm casually working on everything and do expect to need help with things like cheering. I'll know more in the coming months as I get it all together. Thanks!

You're welcome! Challenges are challenging to run, but always fun. (Gonna need a sunny equivalent for my snowflake, I think, if I can sort my icon space out in time.)

Just let me know if you want to do anymore brainstorming. I've gotten very excited about the idea of actually participating in fandom again.

For sure! I've got things slated in my calendar for when to spend time working (the next 2 weeks are pretty solid for me so probably Feb I'll dig into this again in earnest), but brainstorms are always welcome. I have this post and then there is a locked post on my page as well - wherever you're more comfortable. :)

Ditto. I just posted a long comment on your journal which was essentially me procrastinating on getting back to the housecleaning. I always get ideas for things when I'm supposed to be doing other things.

There's no need to tell me about the brain going other places issue because I have the same one. At least now with smartphones I can jot down notes for things wherever I am?

And on that note, I should probably add to this post that if someone has an idea but doesn't want to put the raw form on this public page, they are very welcome to send me a DM to share!

I just downloaded yet another task manager app. (They always seem like they're going to be brilliant when I first start and they're always a headache for one reason or another and I've deleted half the ones I've tried. But I *think* I've finally sorted it down to one that's best for lists of one time tasks and one that's best for reminders of recurring tasks.)

An excellent idea!

Can I suggest that you make it seven non-consecutive days? I always get behind on the Snowflake Challenge, and tend to fall off completely towards the end because I feel so behind. If the challenges were, say, every four days, there would be more time to complete them.

I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

That is actually already the plan! We hope it will help add to the low-stress, no due dates feel (as well as give everyone the time to check out and respond to other participants).

I know for me I'll have a lot more time in July (this is my busy season with work), so it'll be fun to really get involved. :D

BTW I ♥ ♥ ♥ Danielle SO MUCH - that whole season was one of my favorites.
