Welcome to the

sunshine_challenge! Our aim to provide a little bit of sunshine as everyone takes part in creating and appreciating the content each prompt inspires.

We will post seven challenge prompts throughout the month of July. You are encouraged to complete as many of the prompts as you feel comfortable doing: whether that’s one, all seven, or some number in between! You can do them on your private journal or in public posts, the choice is yours. If you’re shy we have places for lurkers, too. We want you all to have fun and enjoy the challenge in whichever way works best for you.

Although

sunshine_challenge is being hosted on DW, if you don't have an account here, please feel free to comment anonymously and sign your (fan)name. You can also sign in with OpenID, which allows you to use your LJ (and other platform) credentials to comment. We want everyone to be able to participate, regardless of where you hang your fandom hat.

enemytosleep: After the success of the 2019 event, I knew that I definitely wanted to run it again in 2020. When the world continued to get more and more off track, it was even more important to me that we offer a bit of sunshine to the online community here. I hope everyone finds a bit of cheer while taking part in the challenge, and that they can help spread that cheer to others.

oldtoadwoman: Looking forward to meeting new people and chatting with folks from last year. I will be offering icons for anyone who wants to use them during Sunshine Challenge and beyond.

autobotscoutriella: I loved this event last year, and I'm really looking forward to meeting more people and seeing all the unique takes on this year's prompts!

bemused_writer: Hello, everyone! I'm new to the Sunshine Challenge, but I had a great deal of fun with the Snowflake and Electric Challenges and I look forward to participating and meeting new people through this one. ^^

impala_chick: With 2020 being what it has been so far, I really wanted to help spread some positivity in my happy place, fandom! I loved participating last year, and I am looking forward to being more involved this year.

cornerofmadness: Hi, all! I love talking to people and I've been in fandom for more years than I can easily count. It's been good to me so I want to give a little something back.

The

sunshine_challenge is about celebrating fandom itself and the awesome people in it. One way we can do that is by interacting with each other. Every time you visit the journal of a fellow participant and comment on what they're sharing, you are helping to create this community. Fandom is about love: love of books and writers, movies and actors, music and musicians, comics and their creators, but it's also about being with and appreciating other fans and letting them know they matter. We all could use a little sunshine in our lives. ♥

When I was making icons for this year, I got stuck in a loop and made four different "sad dog looking out a window" icons. (This one's my favorite because there is a second even sadder dog if you look closely.) I'm in need of a little sunshine myself.
