Many of you here are familiar with the [community profile] snowflake_challenge, and so a lot of what we will be doing here will be similar — if you aren’t familiar with Snowflake then please go subscribe to them right now! Our aim is to provide a low-key way to continue the fun and warm fandom feelings half-way through the year.

We will post seven challenge prompts throughout the month of July. Some will be pretty simple and straightforward, and some will be a little more involved. You are encouraged to complete as many of the prompts as you feel comfortable doing! You can do them on your private journal or in public posts: the choice is yours. If you’re shy we have places for lurkers, too. We want you all to have fun and enjoy the challenge in whichever way works best for you.

Although [community profile] sunshine_challenge is being hosted on DW, if you don't have an account here, please feel free to comment anonymously and sign your (fan)name. You can also sign in with OpenID, which allows you to use your LJ (and other platform) credentials to comment. We want everyone to be able to participate, regardless of where you hang your fandom hat.

Your 2019 moderators include me, [personal profile] enemytosleep, as well as the wonderful [personal profile] autobotscoutriella, [personal profile] oldtoadwoman, and [personal profile] sodium_amytal.

[personal profile] enemytosleep says: I found the Snowflake Challenge for the first time in January 2019, and I loved the concept, but unfortunately January is the busiest month of the year for me at work; I struggled to participate and missed most of the prompts. Figuring I wasn't the only one in that boat, I approached the moderators about hosting a mini-challenge halfway through the year when I would have more time to enjoy the fun ... and here we are!

[personal profile] autobotscoutriella says: Snowflake was my first introduction to Dreamwidth, and the gentle push out of my comfort zone that I needed to make some friends and get involved with some events! I'm really looking forward to the Sunshine Challenge as a nice mid-year marker and an opportunity to get out there and get involved again.

[personal profile] oldtoadwoman says: OldToadWoman is an old toad woman who lives under a rock, but occasionally invites people to share her rock. We have snacks under here.

[personal profile] sodium_amytal says: I want to join the challenge to celebrate fandom and meet new people!

A very special thank you to [personal profile] cornerofmadness, [personal profile] respoftw, and [personal profile] sharpiefan for their help in prepping everything for the 2019 event!

The [community profile] sunshine_challenge is about celebrating fandom itself and the awesome people in it. One way we can do that is by interacting with each other. Every time you visit the journal of a fellow participant and comment on what they're sharing, you are helping to create this community. Fandom is about love: love of books and writers, movies and actors, music and musicians, comics and their creators, etc., but it's also about being with and appreciating other fans, and letting them know they matter. We all could use a little sunshine in our lives. ♥
